The Rotary Atomizer Type Spray Dryer is a highly efficient industrial process designed to convert fluid into fine droplets and expose them to hot drying media, resulting in dry particulate matter. This continuous drying process is widely used for transforming feed fluids—such as solutions, emulsions, or pumpable suspensions—into powders or granules.

Description:

Spray drying involves several key steps to achieve the desired dry product:

Atomization: The feed fluid is converted into fine droplets using one of two methods:

Nozzle Atomization: Involves pumping the feed under high pressure through an orifice to produce coarse droplets and larger granular particles.
Rotary Disc Atomization: Utilizes a high-speed rotating perforated disc to create fine droplets, resulting in finer powder particles.
Hot Air Mixing: The drying media, usually hot air, is heated to a specific temperature based on the characteristics of the feed fluid and the required end product. This hot air can be introduced into the system in various ways:

Co-current Flow: Air and particles move in the same direction.
Counter-current Flow: Air and particles move in opposite directions.
Mixed Flow: Combines co-current and counter-current flows.
The thermal energy from the hot air evaporates the moisture from the droplets in a matter of seconds, ensuring efficient drying without thermal decomposition of heat-sensitive materials.

Powder Separation: Once dried, the powder is continuously discharged from the bottom of the drying chamber through a rotary valve. Air containing fine particles is directed to a cyclone separator or a bag filter for recovery. The air is then scrubbed in a high-efficiency venturi scrubber before being released into the atmosphere. Special powder handling systems, tailored to specific requirements, are used to cool the dried powder or pneumatically convey it to a product silo.

Applications:

Heat Sensitive Products: Ideal for drying enzymes, blood, and flavors.
Regular Products: Suitable for plant and animal extracts, milk, food, pharmaceuticals, dyes, chemicals, and detergents.
Heat Resistant Products: Effective for ceramics, inorganic salts, glass, and metals.
Additional Information:

Pilot Plant Facilities: Available for product trials and the development of new drying procedures, accessible to end-users and research institutes at nominal charges.
The Rotary Atomizer Type Spray Dryer is an optimal choice for producing defined end product characteristics, including particle size, moisture content, bulk density, and particle shape. Its ability to handle a wide range of materials and applications makes it a versatile and essential tool in industrial drying processes.
